Chord Progression

I'm a lot better. The G and the C moves are decent now. I still have about 2 weeks more of practice to get it perfect.

A and D

I think I'm getting the hang of the chord progressions. I don't practice more than 30 minutes a day, which I should at least get to 60-75, and things may go faster. I can move from G to C and back much faster than before. It's still not fast enough to be able to play a tune, but I think in a few weeks that will come.

I started on A and D today. D is not too bad, but A is pretty hard. It's tough to fit all the fingers there.
Also, since I was at it, I started working on progressions between A, D, G and C. Again, it's slow, but the progress is encouraging.

The hard part is strumming up now. I still can't control the volume, and when I try to hit the strings slowly, I don't hold my pick firm enough, and the sound is all messed up.

Chord Progression

I am working on the C chord and the progression from G to C. And then trying to hop back. Each chord starts to work after a bit, but the progression is painfully slow. I'm trying the strumming pattern d-d-d-u-d-u-d, which is a nice pattern, but when one chord sounds good, and I can't get my left fingers in place for the next chord, it's so painful because I can hear the song in my head, but the sound doesn't come out of the guitar properly.

I think I am going to practice the chord progression without strumming so that I can build some muscle memory as well.

Guitar

I got a guitar a few days back, and I wanted to chronicle me trying to learning to play it. For the first two days, I focused on tuning the guitar (I used both an electronic tuner as well as Garageband), and learning the posture.

I've been working on chords E and C. Some of the issues that I have had are my fingers hurting like crazy (it's getting better 3 days in) and the intensity that I strike the strings. The pick doesn't sit well in my hand and so I'm not strumming the strings with a consistent force. That’s what I am going to work on first. Once I can get that going, I'll move on to chords G and D and then A.
